H.M.C.S. Preserver is the second of two "Protectuer" Class Auxilliary Oil Replenishment ships (AOR). Commissioned in 1970, she provides a one stop shop for the fleets fuel, ammunition, and food requirements. Capable of carrying up to 3 Sea King Helicopters, and acts as a "Helicopter Hospital" for the fleets air element. The ship is capable of refuelling three ships simultaneously. Displacing 24,000 tons when fully loaded, and at 555 feet long, they are the largest ships in Canada's Navy, and form the nucleus of the Task Force.
